A reminder about delegation

If you're a business owner who looks at a work task and thinks:

1. I could do that better than any of my employees.

2. I don't WANT to do that, but I should because, hey, no one on my team wants to do it either.

3. If I'm not willing to do that, I can't very well ask someone else to do it.

4. I enjoy doing that...why shouldn't I get to be the one to do it?

5. If I want that done right, I'm gonna need to do it myself.

...it's time to look in the mirror and say: “I might be a control freak.”

At least, that's according to Tricia Sciortino, CEO of Belay and host of the One Next Step podcast.

I heard Tricia at the StoryBrand Summit a couple of weeks ago in Nashville.

She's got an amazing personal story. She also has some blunt wisdom for business owners.

She says the thoughts described above are evidence of "Control Freakism." And she adds, "They're all rooted in ego."

Gulp.

Here's the quote I can't stop thinking about. I'll leave it with you:

"You will either be the liberator or the limiter of your business. The further you want to go, the more you will have to let go of."

So, I feel like I've got to ask...

How are YOU doing when it comes to delegation?

I think Tricia is on to something.

Smart business owners are great delegators.
