A reminder about reading and leading
"A reader is a LEADER!"
I can still picture my old professor. He'd pound the lecturn, pause for dramatic effect, and add...
"And a leader is a READER!"
Dr. Hendricks drilled that silly dictum into our noggins.
(Come to think of it, he's probably why I spent all the money I made working in the campus bookstore—and then some—loading up on good reads.)
Maybe you're afflicted too.
You see books somewhere, anywhere, and it's like the Amazing Kreskin just hypnotized you. Instinctively, you reach for your wallet.
If that's you, you need to meet my friend Kelley Hartnett.
She's one of the best people I know. She's wise, creative, and off-the-charts kind.
Recently Kelley inspired us all by working up the courage to chase one of her lifelong dreams: starting an independent bookstore.
I'm telling you, she's making it HAPPEN!
In the near future, she'll have a retail location. (At least one.)
Meantime, Double Dog Bookshop is doing business online right here.
And—check out this fun fact—Double Dog also has a nearly finished mobile store. (See the photo above and think: The literary version of a food truck. This bookshop on wheels, all 98 square feet of it, will be a place folks in the St. Louis area can get and gorge on good words.)
Why am I telling you all this? To ask a bold favor...
If you're a reader-leader-bibliophile, would you consider buying your next batch of books from Kelley (instead of Amazon or Barnes & Noble)?
Yes, you'll pay a little extra for shipping. And you might have to wait an additional day or two to get your books, but...
On the plus side, you'll be helping an amazing human and a worthy start-up.
FTR, I get NOTHING from this. Except the satisfaction of knowing that together, you and I made the world a better place by helping a new, small business like Double Dog Bookshop thrive.
